Did you know that relaxing in your hot tub is one of those things? Read on to learn more about how your hot tub can help you sleep.
Hot Tubs Help You Relax
The word “spa” is an acronym for “salus per aquam” which means “health from water”. Among the many health benefits from hot tubs, hot tubs help you relax. Soaking in your hot tub will help ease stress and tension, helping you unwind so that you can go to sleep. Unlike taking medications and other treatments, hot tubbing is a natural way to relax.
Hot Tubs Change Your Body Temperature
Right before you go to bed, your body drops in temperature, signaling that it is time to go to sleep. You can artificially create this drop by bathing in a spa. After spending a few minutes in the warm water, your body temperature increases as a result of the water temperature. When you get out of the water, your body temperature will then drop back to normal. However, this decrease in temperature signals to your body that it is time to go to bed.
When Should You Hot Tub?
Studies show that the best time to hot tub for a good night’s rest is between 90-120 minutes before you go to bed. You should soak in the spa for about 15 minutes. Most experts suggest that you set the temperature of your hot tub between 100-102 degrees, and to never exceed 104 degrees.
